Description:
Under the direct supervision of the Principal, the Dean of Students is responsible for fostering a positive school climate and supporting student success through behavior management, attendance monitoring, and social-emotional learning initiatives. This role collaborates closely with teachers, staff, families, and administrators to address student concerns and promote a safe, inclusive learning environment. Additionally, the Dean of Students oversees daily school operations, ensuring the well-being of all students and staff, and participates in professional development to enhance student leadership and belonging. This position is located at Meadowbrook Elementary for Grades KG-4. Start date is August 17, 2026. This is a 189 day contract with an extended contract for additional days outside of the teacher calendar. 

Essential Functions
  • Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 behavioral support to students.

  • Collaborate with staff on behavior intervention plans.

  • Coach and guide teachers on student concerns and behavior management.

  • Meet with students individually and in small groups

  • Document behavioral incidents and communicate with families.

  • Coordinate, plan, and support the social-emotional learning (SEL) curriculum and supervise various locations to ensure student safety and well-being.

  • Mentor new staff members and participate in professional development related to student leadership and belonging.

  • Oversee daily supervision, evaluation and development of Special Education Aides and/or Lunchroom/Playground Supervisors.

  • Monitor student attendance and compliance with school rules.

  • Investigate student attendance and conduct concerns.

  • Develop and implement programs to improve student attendance.

  • Assist in managing day-to-day operations of the school building.

  • Supervise paraprofessionals and lunchroom/playground supervisors.

  • Maintain a safe and secure learning environment.

  • Participate in home visits and collaborate with social workers as needed.

  • Collaborate with teachers, staff, administrators, and families.

  • Facilitate communication of behavior situations and plans.

  • Attend meetings and participate in problem-solving discussions.

Qualifications

Required

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Leadership, Administration, or similar field.
  • Licensure: Valid teaching license, valid administrator license
  • Certificates, Certifications, or Other Training: Valid Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction license/certificate, CPR Certification, NVCPI Certification, Nonviolent crisis training, Trauma Informed Care
  • Previous Work-Related Experience: 4-6 years of work-related experience.

Preferred

  • Education: Master’s Degree in Education, Leadership, Administration, or similar field.
