About the Wisconsin Education Career Access Network (WECAN):
- Established in 2001 to help educators find teaching jobs across Wisconsin and to simplify the hiring process for schools, including application review, candidate selection, and recruitment.
- Began with about 10 participating schools and now serves more than 500 schools each year.
- Is a nonprofit service funded through membership fees from school systems across Wisconsin.
- Developed through a collaboration among Wisconsin school systems, teacher preparation colleges, and educators, in partnership with the Wisconsin Association of School Personnel Administrators (WASPA).
- Is managed and maintained by Graduate & Extended Learning at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in collaboration with WASPA.
