Position Details
Key Responsibilities

Individualized Instruction: Design and implement specialized instruction aligned with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), focusing on both modified academic standards/curriculum, general education curriculum, functional life skills, and transition (14+).

Behavioral Support: Develop and execute Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs). Support and train staff with student BIPs. Utilize trauma-informed care and crisis intervention techniques (e.g., CPI) to maintain a safe learning environment.

Progress Monitoring: Collect and analyze data on student goals to drive instructional decisions and provide detailed reports for IEP meetings and parental updates/reports.

Classroom Leadership: Supervise and mentor a team of Paraprofessionals, ensuring they are effectively supporting student needs and following general protocols.

Collaborative Care: Work closely with Occupational Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, Physical Therapists, and various Classroom Grade Level Teachers to integrate and support student goals into the daily classroom routine.

Adaptive Communication: Utilize Assistive Technology and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) tools to ensure every student has a voice. Model and support paraprofessionals and classroom teachers with implementing AAC in the classroom.

Scheduling: Responsible for creating and adjusting Special Education Teacher, Student(s), and Paraprofessional schedules across grade levels K-8 based on IEP minutes/needs.

Programming: Deliver IEP services through pull-out individual and/or small group instruction as well as push-in instruction in general education classrooms. Understanding that service delivery model is not self-contained.
Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Special Education

Certification: Valid Wisconsin Teaching Certification in Special Education

Expertise: Demonstrated experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), intellectual disabilities (ID), or multiple disabilities.

ABA experience preferred

Physical Stamina: Ability to assist with student positioning, lifting, or personal care (toileting/feeding) as required by individual student needs.
