The School District of Florence County is seeking a superintendent focused on leading the district's staff in its pursuit of continuous improvement in service to its students and school-community. The ideal candidate should bring forth a diverse background of educational experiences from both the classroom and also from serving previously as a district administrator or other building level administrator. Consideration will be provided to all licensed candidates, or those with current administrative experience who are in the process of attaining their Wisconsin school superintendent license (DPI # 5003). The District desires to employ an individual who has diverse experiences in curriculum and instruction, with a sound understanding of Wisconsin school finance. The ability to manage personnel and make critical staffing decisions to ensure the district's daily operational status is essential, with prior experience in hiring and evaluation of staff preferred. Essential responsibilities and qualifications must include, but are not limited to: managing the District's annual budget; implementing board policy; having a comprehensive understanding of both Federal and State school law; ensuring for school safety, via fidelity in administration and continuous improvement in school safety and crisis response plans; communicate frequently, and transparently, with internal and external school and school-community stakeholders; networking with community/business partners; seeking out grant opportunities; leading school referendum campaigns; support staff development and retention. The School District of Florence County is located in far northeastern Wisconsin, bordering the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The District has an enrollment of approximately 390 students, and is one of only two countywide school districts in Wisconsin. The School District of Florence County is Wisconsin's tenth largest district geographically, and owns its own bus fleet. The District is comprised of two separate buildings, a 4K-6 building built in 1998, and a 7-12 facility that recently completed a $14 million renovation in 2018. The high school houses one of Wisconsin's first Fab Labs in the state, and has 1:1 technology for students K-12. The District works in collaboration with Northeast Wisconsin Technical College, and regional schools, to provide post-secondary credit opportunities through the Woodland Consortium of Schools. The District's annual operational budget is approximately $10,000,000, employing 43 professional teachers, and approximately another 50 supporting administrators, supervisors and auxiliary support staff that Positively Affect the Lives of Children.
