Paraprofessional: Regular Education (Lifeguard) - Vacancy ID: 276010

The lifeguard provides supervision and safety monitoring for students during aquatic activities as part of the physical education program. This position also assists physical education (PE) teachers with instructional support and classroom management.  

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Monitor the pool area at all times to ensure student safety during swimming and water-based physical education activities.
• Enforce all pool safety rules and respond appropriately to emergencies, including performing water rescues and first aid/CPR when necessary.
• Assist PE teachers with instructional activities, such as demonstrating swimming techniques, organizing equipment, and providing student supervision during non-swimming activities.
• Support classroom and behavior management by reinforcing teacher expectations for student conduct.
• Prepare, set up, and store PE and aquatic equipment as directed by PE staff.
• Assist with attendance and other basic record-keeping tasks as requested.
• Promote a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment for all students.
