Altoona Elementary School is seeking a full-time LTE Special Education Paraprofessional for the remainder of the 2026-2027 school year. This is a full-time position (Monday - Friday; 7:00 am - 3:00 pm) and follows the School District of Altoona yearly calendar. 

Primary responsibilities of this position are to provide assistance to meet the social, academic, and personal needs of students with special needs. Special education paraprofessionals will work with students who present learning, cognitive, emotional, and/or behavioral disabilities.

We are looking for an educator who does more than just complete tasks; we want someone dedicated to making sure every child feels deeply seen, heard, and valued. The ideal candidate is highly coachable, eager to grow, and understands the delicate balance of providing support while knowing when to "release" the student to foster their own independence as they learn to complete tasks on their own.

Key Responsibilities:

• Student Support: Work one-on-one or in small groups with students, assisting them within classrooms and during instruction to ensure both academic and emotional success.
• Fostering Independence: Actively guide students toward self-sufficiency, gradually stepping back as they gain the skills and confidence to complete tasks on their own.
• Supervision & Connection: Provide attentive supervision and support throughout the school day, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment where every student feels heard.
• Collaboration & Growth: Collaborate closely with special education and classroom teachers. Remain open to feedback, coaching, and implementing new strategies to best support student development.
