The Elkhorn Area School District is accepting applications for a School Nutrition Worker (Cook) at Tibbets Elementary School. This is a school-year position, only working when students are present in the building.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Under general supervision, assists in the large-scale preparation and serving of a variety of foods (meats, vegetables, casseroles, baked goods) required to meet USDA regulations
•Performs necessary duties required to maintain a clean & organized kitchen/dining area(s)
•Serves as relief head cook as necessary
•Supervises the serving of food and food service deliveries at a given school site
•Follows appropriate food service safety & sanitary procedures
•Assists in other food service activities as needed

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
•High school diploma or equivalent
•Food service experience preferred including commercial or institutional food preparation (or an equivalent combination of experience & training)
•Knowledgeable in the use & cleaning of commercial kitchen equipment & large appliances
•Previous experience in large group meal preparation – preferably in an education setting
•Knowledgeable in sanitary methods & safety procedures required in food preparation & related services
•Must be willing to complete the ServSafe Certification course
•Good communication skills – must have the ability to understand & follow verbal & written instructions
•Must have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs & be able to tolerate extended walking & standing
•Must enjoy interacting with children in a school setting
Candidates who receive a conditional offer of employment with the Elkhorn Area School District must successfully complete a background check, physical and tuberculosis test, and drug screening. Employment is contingent upon verification of work eligibility through E-Verify.
