The Special Education Aide (Intensified Unified Program) supports assigned students across various settings, ensuring the successful implementation of their personalized plans. This involves direct collaboration with the child’s special education teacher, delivering direct academic and behavioral support, collaborating with teachers to adapt instruction, collaborating with other Special Education Aides to ensure student safety and meet individual student needs, and monitoring student progress. The Special Education Aide also assists students with daily routines, supports activities in the classroom, at recess, in the lunchroom, provides assistance with mobility and assistive devices, and manages behavioral interventions while adhering to safety and hygiene protocols.  Experience working with students with disabilities is preferred, but not required.  This part time position works at Bay Harbor Elementary School with Grades K-4 with a Monday through Friday schedule of 9:15 a.m. -  3:30 p.m. Hourly wage is $24.00 to $33.60 based on experience in an educational agency. Start date is as soon as possible. 

Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Assist students with beginning-of-the day check-ins, end-of-day routines, dismissal procedures, and accessing transportation.
  • Support students in developing essential skills (e.g., sign language, finger spelling) as needed.
  • Facilitate participation in inclusive classroom, recess and lunchroom activities.
  • Implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for assigned students in all settings (classroom, specials, lunch, recess).
  • Deliver direct academic and behavioral support, including reading assistance and assignment help.
  • Collaborate with teachers to adapt instruction and meet student needs.
  • Monitor student progress and report to teachers, including the child’s case manager or special education teacher.

Required

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Licensure: Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Special Education Aide License. 
  • Certificates, Certifications, or Other Training: First Aid and CPR Certification. Nonviolent Intervention Training. Medication Administration Certification. Passing grade on Paraeducator Master Teacher assessment if no college degree present. 
  • Previous Work-Related Experience: No prior work experience is necessary.

Preferred

  • Some College/Associate degree in Special Education.
