POSITION SUMMARY
Assist in the supervision and engagement of students in the school environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Supervise students in common areas of the school to ensure a safe environment
2. Check and record student attendance, issue student passes, and record student tardies
3. Circulate throughout the classroom during study time while demonstrating, monitoring and encouraging positive student behaviors and enforcing school rules
4. Use conflict resolution and de-escalation skills to monitor and influence student behavior and to refer students for discipline
5. Ensure students are working in some capacity on their school work, free choice reading, or free choice writing
6. Assist in keeping the classroom clean and organized to ensure a safe environment
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. May assist students with academic assignments
2. Assumes responsibility for classroom equipment
3. Perform other duties as assigned which are fairly within the scope of duties normally performed by school aides
