Full Time
CERTIFICATION
  • Certified by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction as a Cross-Categorical Special Education Teacher (#1801 or #2801) for grades 8-9.
WHAT IT TAKES
  • Experience and training in all disability areas – EBD, ID, SLD, and Autism preferred.
  • Successful teaching or practicum experience at appropriate levels.
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Ability to effectively relate to students, parents, and staff.
  • Ability to maintain and promote positive classroom environments.
  • Ability to design, create, develop, and follow-through with innovative learning experiences and programs that are developmentally appropriate.
  • Ability to successfully defuse crisis situations.
  • Ability to support and/or teach content for multiple subject areas.
  • Willing to stay current and use technology in the classroom.
  • Possess effective leadership skills in the area of special education.
  • Knowledge and understanding of appropriate and effective programming for students identified with social, emotional, and behavioral needs.
  • Knowledge and understanding of behavior intervention plans and intervention plan implementation.
