The Green Bay Area Public School District is currently accepting applications for an Associate Director of Special Education. Working collaboratively with other leaders, under the direction of the Director of Special Education, the Associate Director of Special Education provides oversight of special education programming, staffing, procedural compliance, and results driven accountability.
The Special Education leadership team focuses on increasing academic achievement for all students with disabilities within the Green Bay Area Public School District to ensure college, career and community readiness for all. Essential functions of this Associate Director of Special Education position include:
1. Follows the Core Values of the Green Bay Area Public School District as driver of our words and actions: Excellence, Engagement, Equity, Integrity, and Responsibility.
2. Promotes efforts on diversity, establishes best practices and utilizes skills to remove barriers for students of diverse backgrounds.
3. Creates a favorable professional impact on students, parents, community, and other employees.
4. Provides for long-range planning and timelines for implementation of those plans to meet the needs of special education students assigned to programs in the attendance area.
5. Cooperates in providing for the special education curriculum and program planning, development, implementation and objective evaluation.
6. Conducts formative and summative evaluations.
7. Assists the Director in the development and implementation of meaningful professional learning opportunities.
8. Assists in determining the staffing requirements of special education programs, including monitoring monthly and annual staffing needs and annual projections.
9. Participates in the recruiting, screening and interview process for special education vacancies.
10. Reviews placement of students in special education programs.
11. Maintains accurate, up-to-date class lists.
12. Cooperates in the establishment and maintenance of efficient procedures and effective controls for all expenditures of school funds in accordance with the adopted budget subject to Board approval.
13. Plans, organizes and conducts monthly and/or quarterly department and leadership meetings.
14. Resolves and manages conflict on student educational programs, including responding to parent concerns.
15. Attends IEP team meetings as needed.
16. Communicates with community agencies, private and parochial schools.
17. Cooperates in providing for the efficient, well-coordinated and safe transportation of special education students in accordance with Board policy and state law.
18. Serves on department and district committees.
19. Reviews IEP team reports.
20. Examines new materials or software designed for special education.
21. Assists in developing the Special Education Plan (SEP) for DPI.
22. Prepares various reports as are required by state law and district policy.
23. Provides guidance and direction in establishing best practices of clear, meaningful performance.
24. Provides for the establishment of clear, meaningful performance expectations for assigned staff.
25. Maintains expertise in special education through college coursework, in-services, reviewing literature, community involvement and technology training.
26. Assists in oversight of DPI Indicators.
27. Assists in follow up of any corrective actions.
28. Performs all other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education.

Qualifications Required:
Education: Master's Degree in Special Education
Wisconsin DPI Licensure: Director of Special Education/Pupil Services (#80)
Experience: Minimum of three (3) years successful teaching experience in Special Education
