St. Francis Xavier Catholic Schools is looking for a Middle - High School Orchestra Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The Orchestra Teacher is responsible for developing musical talent and fostering a love for music among students (Grades 7th - 12th) through the implementation of a comprehensive orchestra program. 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a dynamic orchestra curriculum, focusing on individualized instruction and group rehearsals to cultivate technical proficiency, musicality, and ensemble cohesion.
  • Use diverse instructional techniques and resources tailored to meet the unique needs and learning styles of students.
  • Select and organize music materials and supplies necessary for effective instruction and performance.
  • Create and maintain a supportive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning and artistic expression.
  • Prepare and communicate student progress reports, providing timely feedback to students and parents/guardians.
  • Supervise students during non-instructional periods and special events, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Collaborate with fellow music educators to develop a balanced and cohesive music program that aligns with school-wide goals.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with students, parents/guardians, and colleagues, demonstrating professionalism and respect at all times.
  • Uphold confidentiality and privacy standards regarding student records and communications.
  • Promptly report any safety concerns, incidents, or emergencies affecting students or the school community.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Current Wisconsin teaching license, or eligibility to obtain a Wisconsin DPI teaching license.
  • Proficiency in playing string instruments and/or related musical skills required.
  • Prior teaching experience in a school setting preferred.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficiency in integrating technology into music instruction, including relevant software and applications.
  • Ability to effectively manage classroom dynamics and address the diverse needs of adolescent learners.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students of varying abilities and backgrounds.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying abreast of best practices in music education.
  • Collaboration skills and a willingness to contribute to a positive team environment and willingness to collaborate with staff across campuses.
  • Willingness to participate in Foundational Catechetical Certification (FCC)
  • Submission to a legal background check.
