The Connect Learning Center (CLC) is Northland Pines School District’s elementary alternative education program designed to support students with and without IEPs whose social-emotional and behavioral needs significantly impact their success within a traditional school setting. The program emphasizes relationship-building, predictable routines, individualized supports, and collaborative problem-solving to help students strengthen self-regulation, increase academic engagement, and build the skills needed for success within their school communities. The CLC team works closely with families, school staff, and community partners to provide a highly supportive and student-centered learning environment.
 
The Special Education Teacher for the Connect Learning Center (CLC) will serve as part of a collaborative, trauma-informed alternative education team supporting elementary students with and without IEPs whose social-emotional and behavioral needs impact their success within a traditional school environment. The role includes providing specialized instruction, individualized supports, and trauma-responsive practices for students with IEPs while partnering with the broader CLC team to foster emotional regulation, academic engagement, and social connection within a structured, predictable, and supportive setting. The teacher will implement instructional strategies, co-regulation techniques, and behavior interventions to help students build resilience, strengthen self-regulation skills, and successfully reintegrate into their school communities. Collaboration with families, school staff, and community partners will be essential in supporting each student’s unique academic and social-emotional needs in alignment with best practices in special education and Responsive Classroom principles.
 
Required Qualifications:
Two years of experience working with students with emotional and behavioral disabilities
Valid Wisconsin DPI Special Education License- Cross-Categorical Special Education
Strong ability to build relationships with students, work collaboratively with colleagues, and engage families in their child’s education.
Ability to create structured, engaging, and responsive learning environments that foster student success.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
Training or experience in trauma-informed teaching, co-regulation, behavior intervention, and Responsive Classroom strategies is highly valued.
Wisconsin DPI General Education Teaching License- Elementary
