JOB SUMMARY:
The Network Administrator is the principal architect of the district’s technical infrastructure, responsible for the stability, integrity, and security of the WAN, LANs, and servers. This role leads cybersecurity and manages critical systems.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership/Management:

Directs the design and implementation of the district’s networking infrastructure to meet user needs.

Establishes/enforces network security, data integrity, and information asset usage policies and standards.

Coordinates with external vendors on large-scale infrastructure projects, including network refreshes and renovations.

Provides technical leadership and mentorship for the department’s escalation path, resolving the most complex infrastructure failures.

Monitors industry trends, technologies, and standards.
-
Participates in the district’s Future Ready Team.

Performs all other duties as assigned by Administration.
Communication/Liaison:
-
Collaborates with leadership to ensure infrastructure initiatives align with the long-range strategic plan.

Serves as a contact for telecommunications providers and technology hardware vendors.

Communicates network maintenance schedules and potential outages to all stakeholders in a timely manner.

Participates in state and regional technology groups to stay informed of emerging infrastructure trends.
Technical:
-
Designs, configures, and maintains enterprise-grade routers, switches, and wireless access points.

Administers the district’s virtual and physical server environments, including Active Directory and Group Policy.

Architects and manages the district’s telecommunications and VoIP infrastructure.

Installs and manages enterprise firewalls, intrusion prevention systems, and VPN access, following NIST and CISA standards.

Ensures compliance with CIPA through advanced URL filtering and network monitoring.

Manages storage area networks (SAN) and executes backup and disaster recovery protocols.

Provides technical support for facilities-connected systems, including IP security cameras, access control, HVAC sensors, and radio networks.
Financial:
-
Contributes and assists with the technology budget, prioritizing critical system upgrades.

Assists Director of Internet Technology with E-Rate filings to ensure maximum funding eligibility.

Evaluates hardware and service quotes for competitive pricing and technical alignment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Capable on a continuous basis: standing, sitting, reaching, grasping, bending, stooping, twisting, repetitive movement of both hands seeing with both near and far visual acuity.

Capable on a frequent basis: walking and moving, climb stairs, lifting from floor to waist (up to #50), lifting from waist to shoulders (up to #25).

Capable on an occasional basis: pushing, pulling, and lifting from shoulders to overhead (up to #25).
REPORTS TO:
Director of Information Technology
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Post-secondary degree or equivalent certification(s).
-
Experience with Google Workspace.
-
Experience with Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Configuration Manager) and Intune.

Experience with Hypervisors.
-
Five (5) years’ experience working within a Windows domain environment.
-
Five (5) years’ experience working with PC hardware/software.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Post-secondary degree in Information Technology.
-
Experience in IT architecture.
-
Experience with operational technologies.
