KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Team Culture & Leadership
Support the creation of a positive, inclusive, and disciplined team environment aligned with the district's values of excellence, accountability, integrity, selflessness, leadership, and pride.
Serve as a role model for sportsmanship, humility, and ethical behavior.
Encourage a team-first mentality, promoting unity, respect, and shared goals.
Build strong relationships with student-athletes to foster trust and motivation.

 Instruction & Athlete Development
Assist with planning and conducting safe, purposeful practices that promote skill development and game understanding.
Support athletes’ physical, mental, and emotional growth through positive feedback, mentorship, and resilience-building strategies.
Help develop and implement individualized instruction to meet the needs and abilities of each student-athlete.
Promote academic accountability and student-athlete well-being.

Game & Practice Support
Execute assigned responsibilities during practices and competitions, including strategy, supervision, and equipment management.
Provide sideline support that reinforces the head coach’s direction and models positive communication and focus.
Collaborate with the head coach to analyze performance and adjust tactics for athlete and team improvement.

Safety, Compliance & Supervision
Prioritize athlete safety by monitoring proper use of equipment, enforcing safety protocols, and supporting injury prevention efforts.
Ensure compliance with WIAA rules, district policies, and athletic department standards.
Maintain supervision of student-athletes at all practices, events, and team-related activities.

Communication & Community Engagement
Maintain open, respectful, and consistent communication with the head coach, athletes, families, and school personnel.
Promote the athletic program’s values and contributions within the school and community.
Encourage student-athlete participation in school events and service opportunities.

Professional Growth & Collaboration
Participate in coaching clinics and department initiatives when possible.
Seek feedback from the head coach and peers to continuously improve coaching effectiveness.
Collaborate across the coaching staff to support a unified, student-centered athletic program.

Altoona is located in west central Wisconsin in the heart of the Chippewa Valley and is currently one of the fastest growing cities in Wisconsin. Contiguous to Eau Claire, Altoona has easy access to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and Chippewa Valley Technical College.
