Position Summary
The Director of Student Services provides strategic leadership, oversight, and coordination of student support systems across the district. This position ensures equitable access to high-quality services that support the academic, social-emotional, and behavioral success of all students. The Director leads the development and implementation of systems aligned with special education, multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS), and comprehensive school counseling programs, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations while advancing district priorities.
 
Screeners will be issued on April 30th. First interviews will begin on May 4th through May 7th. 
 
Job Duties / Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and oversight of all student services programs, including special education, school counseling, psychological services, social work, and related services.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to special education (IDEA), Section 504, and other student support mandates.
  • Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) framework across the district.
  • Supervise and evaluate student services staff, including coordinators, psychologists, social workers, and other specialists.
  • Collaborate with school and district leaders to support inclusive practices and equitable access to instruction and services.
  • Oversee the development and monitoring of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), 504 Plans, and intervention plans.
  • Analyze student data to inform decision-making, program evaluation, and resource allocation.
  • Lead professional development related to student services, MTSS, behavioral supports, and mental health.
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets, grants, and resource allocation.
  • Serve as a liaison with families, community agencies, and outside service providers.
  • Support crisis response and coordinate district-wide safety and mental health initiatives.
  • Participate as a member of the district leadership team to align student services with district goals and strategic priorities.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree required; Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) or Doctorate preferred in Educational Leadership, Special Education, School Psychology, Counseling, or related field.
  • Valid administrative licensure in the state of Wisconsin (or eligibility to obtain).
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in education, with demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Extensive background in one or more of the following areas:
    • School leadership
    • Special education
    • Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)
    • School counseling or student support services
  • Demonstrated knowledge of special education law, compliance, and best practices.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Experience with data-driven decision-making and program evaluation.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with staff, families, and community partners.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Ability to travel between district buildings and attend off-site meetings.
  • Occasional lifting of materials up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to use standard office equipment, including computers and communication devices.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Directly supervises student services personnel, including but not limited to:
    • Special Education Coordinators
    • School Psychologists
    • Social Workers
    • Counselors
    • Related Service Providers
  • Responsible for hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating assigned staff.
  • Provides leadership, coaching, and professional growth opportunities for team members.
  • Ensures alignment of staff performance with district goals and expectations.
