Parkview Jr./Sr. High School is seeking a passionate, student-centered Social Studies Teacher to serve students in grades 6–12. The ideal candidate will inspire students to think critically about history, civics, geography, and current events while fostering informed and engaged citizenship.
Courses may include a range of middle and high school social studies classes, with opportunities to shape and expand course offerings based on student interest and program development. The successful candidate will play a key role in strengthening the 6–12 social studies program, increasing student engagement, and creating meaningful, inquiry-based learning experiences.
We are looking for an educator who is eager to innovate, collaborate, and actively promote the value of social studies education within the school and community.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum & Instruction
· Develop and deliver standards-based social studies curriculum aligned to state standards.
· Incorporate inquiry-based learning, primary sources, and real-world connections into instruction.
· Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student learning needs.
· Assess and monitor student progress using a variety of formative and summative tools.
Program Growth & Student Engagement
· Foster student interest in social studies through engaging, relevant, and thought-provoking instruction.
· Contribute to the development and expansion of course offerings and program opportunities.
· Support student participation in civic engagement opportunities such as service learning, simulations, or academic competitions.
Collaboration & School Involvement
· Collaborate with colleagues to strengthen interdisciplinary connections and student learning.
· Partner with families and the community to enhance learning opportunities.
· Participate in school initiatives and contribute to a positive school culture.
Professional Growth
· Participate in ongoing professional development related to social studies instruction and best practices.
· Stay current with trends in education, civics, and instructional technology.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Social Studies Education, History, Political Science, or related field.
· Valid Wisconsin DPI Certification in Social Studies (Grades 6–12) required.
· Strong content knowledge and understanding of effective instructional practices.
· Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
· Commitment to building a strong and engaging social studies program.
