Job Summary:
The Xavier Elementary School STEM Teacher is responsible for providing engaging and meaningful instruction in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) for students in Pre-Kindergarten through 4th grade. The teacher will foster an environment of curiosity, exploration, and faith, integrating Catholic values and teachings into the STEM curriculum. The STEM teacher will work closely with classroom teachers, administrators, and support staff to promote a well-rounded, holistic education that addresses the needs of each student.
Position Specific Responsibilities:

STEM Curriculum Development & Instruction:

Design and implement engaging, hands-on weekly STEM lessons that cater to the developmental levels of students in Pre-Kindergarten (4K) through 4th grade.

Develop age-appropriate activities that align with grade-level standards while integrating Catholic values and teachings where applicable.

Teach students foundational concepts in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics using interactive lessons, experiments, and real-world applications.

Use a variety of instructional methods and materials, including group activities, individual projects, and technology to enhance learning experiences.

Faith Integration:

Incorporate Catholic teachings into STEM lessons, helping students understand how science and technology can support and align with their faith and understanding of the world.

Share the wonders of God’s creation through exploration and investigation of the natural world, encouraging students to see STEM subjects as part of a bigger spiritual picture.

Classroom Management:

Establish a positive, respectful, and safe classroom environment that encourages active participation and curiosity.

Implement effective behavior management techniques that align with the school’s policies and the values of the Catholic faith.

Ensure a productive and engaging classroom atmosphere where students feel motivated to explore, create, and problem-solve.

Assessment & Feedback:

Continuously assess student understanding through informal and formal assessments, including projects, quizzes, hands-on activities, and student reflections.

Provide regular feedback to students on their progress and areas for improvement.

Maintain accurate records of student performance and report progress to parents and school leadership.

Collaboration & Communication:

Work closely with grade-level teachers to ensure the STEM curriculum complements and reinforces other subject areas.

Collaborate with other STEM educators and school staff to share resources and ideas for enhancing the STEM program.

Communicate effectively with parents about student progress, classroom activities, and any concerns or achievements.

Professional Development:

Attend professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in STEM education and Catholic teaching.

Stay updated on advancements in educational technology, STEM trends, and new teaching methodologies.
