The Elkhorn Area School District is currently accepting applications for a Health Teacher for our 6-week summer school at Elkhorn Area High School from June 8 through July 24. (no classes the week of June 29 - July 3). Class times will run from 8:00 am – 9:55 am & 10:00 am - 11:55 am.

 

The focus of this class is to help students develop and foster an attitude of caring and responsibility for their overall health and wellness that will last throughout their lifetimes. The emphasis of the class is on teaching and helping students develop health skills that will help them accomplish these goals. Some of the skills taught will include, but are not limited to, decision-making skills, goal-setting skills, conflict-resolution skills, communication skills, health advocacy skills, refusal skills, and self-management skills. Units of Study in which these skills will be incorporated include: Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drug Abuse, Mental Health, Depression, and Suicide Awareness, Family Life and Human Sexuality, along with other material as time permits.

  

This is a temporary teaching position with no expectation of continued employment. There are no benefits associated with this position.

 

Candidates who receive a conditional offer of employment with the Elkhorn Area School District must successfully complete a background check, physical and tuberculosis test, and drug screening. Employment is contingent upon verification of work eligibility through E-Verify.
