McFarland School District is seeking highly dynamic candidates to fill an opening for a Special Education Teacher beginning in the 2026-27 school year.  We aspire to hire individuals who can help us work toward our mission of meeting the needs of every learner, every day, and our vision of being an equitable and inclusive community committed to student belonging, achievement, and growth. 

What Your Day Will Look Like:

A special education teacher's day might begin by co-teaching in a general education classroom or providing targeted small group instruction to support IEP goals in areas such as math and reading. Throughout the day, they may adapt lessons, develop individualized learning materials, and collaborate with general education teachers and specialists to ensure accommodations are implemented effectively. They would also assess student progress, manage IEP documentation, and communicate regularly with families to share updates and strategies for student success.

Our Ideal Candidate: 

• Will have cross-categorical teaching experience at the elementary level
• Will have experience managing an average caseload of 8-10 students

• Will have experience with creating and implementing FBAs and BIPs, including data analysis and proactive behavior management strategies
• Will have knowledge of formative and summative assessment, diagnostic evaluation and interpretation, and IEP development
• Will have the ability to differentiate curriculum, instruction, and assessment using evidence-based instructional strategies, accommodations, and modifications
• Will have flexibility to work across multiple grade-levels
• Will have excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and electronic)
• Will be comfortable with assisting students with personal care needs and other health related cares
• Will possess strong time management and organizational skills
• Will have experience with the continuum of inclusive practices, including co-teaching models
• Will have strong collaboration skills, including partnering with families and service providers
• Will have the ability to provide direction, support, and management of multiple educational assistants
