Position Details
The Associate Director of Learning Services is responsible for implementing, coordinating, and overseeing Learning Services programs and services for the St. Francis Xavier Catholic School System.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Academic Excellence
-
Monitor system-wide practices and procedures for referring, evaluating, and monitoring students with Learning Service needs.

Design, implement, and prepare tools to monitor and measure the progress of students with Learning Services needs (i.e., special education, intervention, EL) throughout the System.

Serve as a System leader for Learning Services and other faculty in supporting students with learning needs.

Develop and implement research-based professional learning in inclusion, differentiation, and effective instructional strategies for faculty and support staff at the elementary, middle, and high school levels.

Provide leadership regarding the recommended time frame for a referral and evaluation process with staff and families (e.g., public school evaluation and outside providers).

Assist with academic and behavioral agreements for students to monitor quarterly progress for students with special education needs.

Prepare system-wide data for system-wide learning services needs and recommend programming to meet student needs with the leadership team.

Facilitate professional development opportunities with Learning Services and EL team to ensure continuity of services.

Plan and recommend ongoing professional development opportunities for all staff, including coordination with outside providers to support students with learning needs.
Leadership
-
Collaborate with the Director of Learning, Principals, and Leadership Team to fulfill the System's vision, mission, and strategic plan.

Provide leadership in the development of an integrated program of services for grades PK-12.

Facilitates meetings and processes to implement and maintain programs and services, fostering effective collaboration and communication.

Serves as the System representative for all student special education and re-evaluation meetings, prepares evaluation documentation, and primarily communicates with the Appleton Area School District's assigned team.

Oversee mentoring and support of Learning Services and EL team members in conjunction with the Director of Learning and Principals.

Serve as the System liaison with the Appleton Area School District to ensure effective coordination of support services for students with learning needs, regular education, parents/guardians, the community, and other agencies.

Maintain knowledge regarding developing special education issues, legal practices under IDEA/ESSA, and the impact on Catholic schools.

Provide advocacy and leadership for the Xavier System for equitable services funding and programming implications.

Recommend measures to improve methods, performance, and product or service quality, and suggest changes to increase efficiency.
Program Management
-
Prepare required fiscal documentation for the Special Needs Scholarship Program (SNSP). Oversee the SNSP management, implementation, and compliance, including the SNSP audits, documentation, and primary representative for parent communications.

Develop and maintain accurate records for all special education report forms and plans required by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) for SNSP.

Assist in the budget process for the Learning Services Department and SNSP funding.

Monitor compliance with ISP and SNSP plans ensuring implementation and cohesive plans for students across the System.

Conduct a learning needs review for all prospective students with academic and/or behavioral learning needs.

Determine and communicate if support and services meet the individual needs of prospective students.

Develop and articulate a comparison of service documentation that outlines the services, minutes, and accommodations available at Xavier.

Collaborate with admissions regarding the learning needs review process to help incoming families understand the support and services available to new students.

Attend seminars, classes, and workshops to maintain a working knowledge of special education and pupil services programming trends, especially in Catholic schools.
