Position Overview

The Unified  School District of Antigo is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to support students under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT). The COTA provides occupational therapy services that enable students to access instruction, develop functional skills, and participate fully in school routines and activities. This position plays a vital role in promoting student independence, inclusion, and success. 

This is an exciting opportunity to join a District experiencing growth following the successful passage of a $54 million referendum to build a new elementary school which will open in December of 2026, and a new Central Office- reflecting the community’s strong commitment to public education.

Primary Responsibilities

Student Services & Intervention

  • Provide occupational therapy services to students as outlined in Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and treatment plans developed by the supervising OT.

  • Implement therapeutic activities to support fine motor skills, sensory regulation, self-care, visual-motor integration, and school participation.

  • Deliver services in a variety of educational settings, including classrooms, small groups, and individual sessions.

  • Support students’ use of adaptive equipment and assistive strategies.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work collaboratively with the supervising Occupational Therapist, special education staff, general education teachers, and related service providers.

  • Communicate regularly with the lead Occupational Therapist and  teachers regarding student progress and strategies.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate service logs, progress notes, and documentation in accordance with district procedures and DPI requirements.

  • Support compliance with IDEA timelines, service delivery requirements, and Medicaid billing.

  • Adhere to confidentiality and ethical standards.

Rural District Contributions

  • Demonstrate flexibility in serving multiple buildings, grade levels, or roles.

  • Build strong, respectful relationships with students and families in a close-knit community.

  • Contribute positively to a collaborative, solution-oriented school culture.

 


 

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.

  • Current Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.

  • Ability to work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist.

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively with students with diverse learning and physical needs.

 


 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in school-based or pediatric settings.

  • Experience serving students with IEPs.

  • Knowledge of assistive technology, sensory integration strategies, or inclusive practices.

  • Willingness to travel between school buildings.
