Reports To: Superintendent

Position Summary

The Plymouth Joint School District is seeking a highly qualified and student-centered Director of Student Services & Special Education to provide strategic leadership and oversight of all special education, pupil services, Multilingual Learner (ML/ELL), and school nursing programs. This position ensures compliance with IDEA, Section 504, Title IX, and Wisconsin state regulations while promoting inclusive, equitable, and high-quality educational services for all students.

The Director serves as the district’s Section 504 Coordinator and Title IX Coordinator and is a key member of the Administrative Leadership Team.

 


 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight of all special education and pupil services programs (PK–12)

  • Ensure compliance with IDEA, Wisconsin Chapter 115, PI 11, Section 504, and Title IX

  • Supervise and evaluate special education and pupil services staff

  • Oversee referral, evaluation, placement, and service delivery systems

  • Manage department budget, staffing plans, and state/federal reporting

  • Coordinate Child Find and related compliance requirements

  • Participate in due process hearings and legal matters as needed

  • Collaborate with administrators, families, and community agencies

  • Provide professional development aligned to district initiatives

 


 

Qualifications

Required:

  • Valid Wisconsin DPI License: 5080 – Director of Special Education and Pupil Services

  • Master’s Degree in Educational Administration or related field

  • Minimum five years successful experience in education and/or pupil services

  • Strong knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, Title IX, and Wisconsin special education law

  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and organizational skills

Preferred:

  • Administrative experience

  • Experience with budgeting and grant management
