The Unified School District of Antigo is seeking a compassionate, student-centered School Counselor to support the academic, social-emotional, and career development of students. The ideal candidate will build strong relationships, advocate for students, collaborate with families and staff, and foster a safe, inclusive school climate. The School Counselor will provide individual and small-group counseling services, support students with academic and career planning and goal-setting, deliver classroom lessons aligned with SEL standards and student needs, assist students in crisis intervention and safety planning, and develop and monitor 504 plans as well as collaborate on IEP teams. Candidates must have the ability to work with at-risk student populations, have strong crisis management abilities, and a commitment to equity and cultural responsiveness. 

Other skills and competencies:

• Thorough knowledge of the policies, procedures, and techniques used for assessing emotional and academic needs of individual students

• Skills and knowledge in the areas of academic and career planning, personal goal setting, behavior management,  and crisis intervention

• Understanding of a multi-level system of support for academics and behavior

• Knowledge of trauma sensitive practices

• Ability to establish and maintain standards of student behavior

• Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team

• Ability to communicate and establish effective working relationships with students, parents, teachers and administrators

• Consistent and reliable attendance

• Maintenance of confidential records
