In the past, the Activities Director also worked during the summer and assisted with strength and conditioning.  In the event this would be considered, it would be discussed at the time of hire.  The strength and conditioning coordinator portion will provide leadership and coordinate extracurricular activities for the purpose of ensuring quality learning experiences and to work in partnership with the Administrative team to build a comprehensive athletic performance and student wellness program including speed, strength, and power through the development of systematic training programs for both teams and individual student athletes, often working in close association with coaches, Trainer, and the REC Center Director. This includes teaching proper lifting techniques, supervising and motivating athletes as they work out, and assessing their performance before and after the program. The nature of the conditioning program will vary depending on whether the sport is in season or not. During the off-season, conditioning programs can be quite rigorous. In season, conditioning programs tend to focus more on maintaining athletes’ conditioning than on improving it. Conditioning programs also vary by sport, and even by position within the sport.
