Cooperative Educational Service Agencies (CESAs) are designed to provide high-quality and innovative educational services to students and educators. There are 12 regional Cooperative Educational Service Agencies in Wisconsin. CESA 9 is located in Tomahawk, Wisconsin and serves 22 school districts in North Central Wisconsin. CESAs make it possible for schools, regardless of size, to work together to share staff and equipment, save money, and extend educational opportunities for all children. As a Speech and Language Pathologist, you will provide direct and/or consultative services to identified students with disabilities, as indicated in the student’s IEP.  You will provide assessment, intervention, and support services to help students develop effective communication skills and succeed academically and socially. Your workday will coincide with the workday of the district(s) in which you are providing services. You are expected to provide reasonable extra duty services and are encouraged to schedule appropriate prep time. Periodic travel to school districts in the CESA 9 region of Wisconsin may be required.  

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough assessments to detect speech, language, and communication disorders in students from early childhood to adolescence as part of the Comprehensive Special Education Evaluation. 

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans in collaboration with the IEP team to address students’ speech and language goals. 

  • Provide direct services to students as determined by the IEP team.

  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other professionals to support students’ communication needs in the classroom and educational settings.

  • Conduct ongoing progress monitoring.

  • Provide timely communication with CESA staff, district staff and guardians.

  • Ensure adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and ethical guidelines in record-keeping and documentation practices, encompassing Medicaid billing and workload management.

  • Apply in-depth knowledge of special education record keeping, principles, practices, and procedures.

  • Stay current with best practices, emerging technologies, and professional development opportunities in the field of special education/speech and language.

  • Travel and potentially work in multiple school districts as required.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

  • Wisconsin DPI Certification for School Speech Language Pathologist (820/1820)

  • Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited college or university

  • Minimum 3 years experience as a Speech and Language Pathologist

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a diverse group of people

  • Excellent attention to detail and intense concentration skills

  • Ability to manage a caseload spanning multiple districts while maintaining compliance with educational and professional standards.

  • Strong knowledge of Google Workspace, as well as an aptitude for integrating technology into the work

  • Valid driver’s license and access to an insured motor vehicle, or other timely access to private transportation, for travel to school districts, meetings, or other off-site destinations 

  • Such other qualifications as the CESA 9 Administrator and the CESA 9 Board of Control may deem appropriate

Physical Requirements:

  • Hearing and speaking to exchange information and make presentations

  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate office and specialized equipment

  • Sit, kneel, stand, and walk for required periods

  • Bending, pushing, moving, and lifting objects up to 30 pounds

  • Reaching to retrieve and maintain files
