The School District of La Crosse is accepting applications from candidates for an Executive Director of Business Services beginning in the 2026-2027 school year with a projected start date of July 1, 2026.  The position opening is due to a retirement, so the ideal start date would be in June of 2026 to ensure overlap and effective onboarding, as well as a structured transfer of responsibilities.

The Executive Director of Business Services provides high-level leadership for the district’s financial and operational affairs, including budget development, accounting, purchasing, payroll, benefits, human resources, facility maintenance and management, food service, safety and transportation.  As a key member of the Superintendent’s cabinet, this position ensures compliance with regulations and maximizes resources to maintain district financial stability and provide leadership in support of the district’s mission, vision and strategic plan.

The School District of La Crosse has a very healthy financial position.  The community has consistently passed operational referenda every 5 years since 2004 with the last operational referendum passed in 2023 as a six year referendum for $10.75M.  In 2024, the community passed a capital referendum for $53.5M to construct a new elementary school and an addition to a second elementary school resulting in a right-sizing of the school district through the closure of three schools.  The school district has a healthy fund balance with an unassigned fund balance of 21% and a total fund balance of over 40%.  The School District of La Crosse provides a competitive health care plan and excellent post-employment benefits.

The pay rate for the 12-month, 260-day position is $164,480 (2025-2026 Pay Rate).
