Wilmot Union High School is seeking candidates to fill a full-time, year-round maintenance and grounds technician position.  This position will oversee the Wilmot Sports Complex as well as support the needs of the maintenance department in the following areas:
  • Maintain, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on small to mid-size custodial and maintenance equipment;

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance of heating/air conditioning/refrigeration systems and/or components, etc.;

  • Prepare documentation such as service/repair records, requisitions, work performed;

  • Perform assigned daytime custodial duties including but not limited to: radio calls, deliveries and other non-scheduled needs;

  • Responsible for the complete maintenance of the Panther Sports Complex and WUHS grounds including but not limited to: mowing, trimming, weed control, start up and shut down of washrooms and concession stand, field prep, daily cleaning needs;

  • Work with the maintenance and Building and Grounds Director on budget; along with compliance, labor, and capital needs of the Panther Sports Complex and WUHS grounds;

  • Manage the maintenance of Bucci Field, press box, etc.; during the spring, summer, and fall seasons;

  • Snow removal; maintenance of snow removal equipment

EDUCATIONAL / CERTIFICATION / SKILL REQUIREMENTS


Minimum:

  • High School diploma or equivalent GED supplemented by three (3) years progressively knowledgeable and skilled in grounds keeping and the facilities maintenance field; 

  • Possession of a valid driver's license;

  • Demonstrating ability to read and interpret blueprints, architectural drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and project specifications;

  • Knowledge required to perform routine and diagnostic building maintenance and knowledge of the use of hand and power tools.

Preferred:

  • Wisconsin pesticide certification (must obtain during employment)

  • Previous experience in a school setting;

    • Excellent computer skills, preferably with School Dude building management,  email, and text

  • Post-Secondary training/certificates in facilities maintenance

SKILL REQUIREMENTS


  • Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions involved with the maintenance, repair, and operation of buildings, grounds, and operating systems; 

  • Demonstrating ability to effectively interact with staff, students, contract services and the public and to establish and maintain effective working relationships; 

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES


The following conveys the relevant and relative physical abilities an applicant or employee must possess without restrictions in order to fulfill the functions and duties of the job:  the ability to stand/walk on a continual basis (~50%); reach, grasp, handle and grip without difficulty on a continuous basis (~10%); frequent stooping/bending or squatting (~15%), ranging from slight forward bending to floor level; lift and carry objects on a constant to frequent basis weighing 0-50 pounds; and occasional pushing and pulling depending on work assignment (~10%).  At times, this job may require working in confined spaces, using aerial equipment and/or working under extreme temperatures.
