Summary:
To administer an interscholastic athletic/co-curricular program that provides opportunities for students in grades
7-12 to participate in athletic programs and co-curricular activities. As activities director he/she will emphasize
student personal growth, skill development, physical fitness, socialization, competition, and District character
traits.
 
Essential Functions:
1. Promotes good community relations by keeping the community aware and responsive to the high school and feeder middle school athletic programs.
2. Promotes smooth and harmonious relationships between local and out-of-city schools, athletic department and recreation department, coaching staffs of both high schools, athletic department and UW-Oshkosh
athletic department, athletic department and various outside athletic organizations such as booster clubs and youth sport groups.
3. Acts as or designates the tournament manager for WIAA tournaments hosted by the high school.
4. Arranges schedules and game officials for the high school and feeder middle school sports program.
5. Schedules game workers, doctors, athletic trainers, and sport medicine programs as needed for high school athletic events.
6. Arranges local field preparation, locker room availability, pre-game and half time ceremonies, printed programs, complimentary tickets, and sale of tickets.
7. Coordinates bloodborne pathogens training for athletic staff and coaches and assures compliance with bloodborne pathogens law.
8. Authorizes issuance of all funds for high school athletics such as:
     a. Paying guarantees and collecting guarantees involved in the participation of athletic events.
     b. Paying entry fees and collecting entry fees for athletic events.
     c. Paying game officials.
     d. Paying game workers.
     e. Paying any other athletic expenditure such as FVA and WIAA dues.
9. Prepares and submits budget requests for the high school interscholastic athletic program.
10. Prepares and submits purchase requisitions for all high school and feeder middle school athletic supplies.
11. Arranges high school and feeder middle school interscholastic athletic program transportation.
12. Works with the director of buildings and grounds to assure the readiness of necessary athletic facilities.
13. Maintains records of the results of high school athletic contests and maintains records of high school award winners.
14. Maintains an accounting of participation in each activity and report offered at the high school.
15. Plans and supervises seasonal recognition programs for high school athletes.
16. Serves as OASD commissioner for the following middle-school sports programs: cross-country, boys’ and girls’ basketball, volleyball, wrestling, and track and field.
17. Schedules the use of all physical facilities regarding the high school interscholastic program and works closely with the recreation department in this matter.
18. Keeps the principal informed of any problem involving the rights or responsibilities of the school or district.
19. Assists the principal in taking all reasonable precautions to safeguard the health and the general well-being of the staff and of the students of the school.
20. Assists in regular and thorough inspections of the school properties.
21. Assists the principal in the maintenance of school records and the preparation of reports.
22. Assists in development of co-curricular budgets.
23. Coordinates building usage and schedule for all after school activities and events.
24. Networks with recreational department to ensure scheduling of auditorium and pool.
25. Assists with supervision of musicals, dramas and other co-curricular events.
26. Fosters positive school and community relations through co-curricular productions and events.
27. Collaborates with music department chair and helps to schedule all concerts.
28. Works with forensics, academic team and all other co-curricular advisors to ensure programmatic improvement.
 
Other Responsibilities:
1. The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or illegal substance in the workplace in compliance with Policy 4122.01 - Drug-free Workplace throughout his/her employment in the district.
2. All other duties as assigned (5%)
 
Supervisory Responsibilities:
1. Athletic Department staff.
2. High School coaching staff and activity advisors.
3. High School event workers for interscholastic athletic activities.
4. Co-curricular and activity advisors.
 
 
Required Education, Experience, and Skills:
1. Master’s degree in educational administration or interscholastic athletics administration.
2. Prior experience in coaching, preferably at the high school level.
3. Commitment to or training in continuous quality improvement.
4. Commitment to the value of a quality interscholastic athletic program and to the educational advantages such a program can provide a student athlete.
5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
 
Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:
1. Prior administrative experience.
2. Prior experience in program evaluation.
3. Teacher certification.
