The School District of Amery is accepting applications for a Business Manager/Director of Finance. This person will serve as the chief financial officer of the District under the direction of the District Administrator.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Assist the District Administrator in the general organization and administration of the schools.
* Oversee the accounting and financial reporting for the District including payroll, bookkeeping, purchasing, student activity accounts, grant administration, building funds, and more.
* Make recommendations to the District Administrator relating to the District's financial and business policies.
* Assist in determining practices and procedures toward improving the effective and efficient operation of the District.
* Effectively communicate the District's financial policies and business affairs to the school board, school staff, and the community at large.
* Attend all school board meetings and provide financial reports as needed.
* Assist in the administration of educational programs of the District including developing budgetary needs for programs and staffing.
* Complete the timely preparation of financial reports for the District's operation as well as reports directed by Federal law, state statute, or DPI regulations.
* Supervise cash flow accounting, procedures, analysis, and borrowing.
* Supervise insurance, insurance claims, and risk management for the District.
* Receipt all monies received by the District and account for them in accordance with State and Federal guidelines.
* Coordinate the district's annual external audit, assist the auditing agency as needed, and report audit results to the school board.
* Prepare the annual budget and present it to the school board.
* Prepare the annual meeting booklet and conduct the annual public budget hearing.
* Supervise budget disbursements and receipts to keep transactions within budget.
* Prepare multi-year budget projections as needed.
* Assist all departments and schools in monitoring, evaluating, reconciling, and preparing budgets, financial reports, and schedules.
* Oversee all purchasing for the District and the sale of surplus property.
* Oversee inventory systems and records that reflect status of school property and equipment.
* Supervise the preparation of bids and bid specifications and prepare recommendations as appropriate.
* Assist in monitoring food service, transportation, and building and grounds and make adjustments as needed to ensure a safe and healthy environment for students and staff.
* Assist in creating a long-range plan for the construction, improvement, and modernization of district facilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:
* Minimum of bachelor's degree required in business, finance, accounting or related
* Certification by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction for the license of School Business Administrator (08) preferred, or willingness to obtain certification
* Experience with Skyward or other school finance software preferred
* Proven problem-solving and organizational skills
* Proven skills in oral and written communication
* Proven competence in finance and accounting, with Wisconsin school finance experience preferred
* Ability to provide leadership to administrators and staff and to maintain excellent interpersonal relationships with all employee groups
* Strong technology skills
* Ability to handle all information in a confidential manner
