Now Hiring: School Counselor at Marinette High School

Marinette School District is seeking an energetic, self-starter to join our Marine Team as a School Counselor. The position will be responsible for helping students overcome problems that impede learning and to assist them in making educational and life plans that hold promise for their personal fulfillment as mature and responsible men and women. Duties also include providing consulting services to parents and school personnel as a student advocate and in coordinating the student educational programs with the home, staff and community agencies.
 
Qualifications & Competencies:
  • Master’s Degree
  • Wisconsin Certification in School Counseling
  • Teaching and/or counseling experience preferred, but not required

Responsibilities:
  • Provides supportive services on behalf of the student within the school by serving as a student advocate at staff meetings, child-centered meetings (IEP Team meetings, SAT, Section 504 etc.), and parent/teacher/student conferences.
  • Accurately and appropriately uses assessment procedures for determining and structuring individual and group counseling services.
  • Maintains a schedule whereby a student can explore concerns with his/her assigned counselor and provides support which empowers the student in developing strategies which enhance personal social, and/or educational success.
  • Encourages students in decision making by promoting healthy intra-and interpersonal relationships.
  • Serves as an active participant on the district’s Strive (Response to Intervention) team.
  • Monitors student academic performance, behavior and attendance and assists with appropriate interventions.
  • Serves as a liaison for school, home and community and functions as a referral agent to appropriate outside resources.
  • Promotes community awareness of available guidance and counseling services.
  • Supports the master scheduling process for grades 9-12 students. 
  • Attends and participates in school/outside agency joint meetings related to school-aged children and their families.
  • Promotes student engagement with the Academic and Career Planning process
