The Sauk Prairie School District is pleased to announce an extraordinary opportunity for a 1.0 FTE Library Assistant beginning with the 2025-2026 school year at Bridges Elementary School. The Sauk Prairie School District is seeking candidates who desire to join a dedicated and committed team of educators and community members focused on improving instruction, learning, and caring for our youngest students.  The ideal candidate is a passionate and gifted communicator with excellent organizational skills who has the desire to develop positive relationships with all stakeholders.  
 
 
Essential Functions: 
  1. Interact with students in a welcoming and caring manner
  2. In line with the literacy goals of the district, actively assist students in selecting choice reading materials; be familiar with trends in elementary and middle grade literature
  3. Assist Library Media Specialist in locating, collecting and disseminating library materials (digital and print)
  4. Assist in achieving school-wide instructional objectives by working with individual students, small groups or whole classes
  5. Instruct/teach library classes on a daily basis
  6. Process materials using the library database, generate labels, cover books and prepare displays
  7. Prepare overdue notices and annual inventory of materials (if needed)
  8. Support the use and maintenance of basic library technologies
  9. Assist with crossing guard duties before and after school
  10. Occasional heavy lifting required
  11. Other special projects and duties as assigned
District Description:  
The district includes Sauk City and Prairie du Sac, two “next door” villages known as Sauk Prairie.  They are located on the beautiful Wisconsin River.  Thirteen towns and the village of Merrimac are also in the district.  The area features rolling hills, meadows, bluffs, forests, lakes and streams.  The district offers small-town, rural living with easy access to the Madison urban area (25 miles) and to the Wisconsin Dells recreation area (28 miles).  The district serves 2,800 students, and comprises six learning communities with a high school of 850 students, middle school of 600 students and four elementary schools of 1,350 students.

  1. High School diploma or equivalent 
  2. Prefer previous work experience with children 
  3. Ability to properly handle confidential matters, emergency situations and work in a positive manner with students, staff and the community 
  4. Very good interpersonal communication skills 
  5. Self-motivated individual who is able to complete tasks on time 
  6. General clerical skills and computer skills necessary 
  7. Able to lift 50 lbs.
