Position Summary:
Forest Ridge Elementary School is seeking a caring, dedicated, and reliable Special Education Student Support Assistant to join our team. This position plays an essential role in supporting the academic, behavioral, social, and emotional growth of students with special needs in grades K–5.
Hours:
8:15 a.m. - 3:45 p.m. (7 hrs - 1/2 hour unpaid lunch)
Key Responsibilities:

Provide direct support to students with special education needs, both individually and in small groups.

Assist students with classroom activities, daily routines, and transitions throughout the school day.

Support instructional and behavioral strategies under the guidance of the classroom teacher and special education staff.

Foster student independence while ensuring a safe and positive learning environment.

Supervise students during non-classroom times, such as recess, lunch, or arrival/dismissal.

Communicate and collaborate effectively with teachers, support staff, and administrators.
Position Details:

Schedule: Monday through Friday, when school is in session.

This position is a 10-month position and not eligible for health or dental benefits.

Competitive hourly rate, based on experience.
Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience working with children (school, childcare, or related setting) preferred.

Patience, flexibility, and the ability to build positive relationships with students.

Willingness to learn and implement strategies to support students with a variety of needs.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
