Position Details
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and implement appropriate therapy programs.
- Actively participate in the M-Team and IEP process.
- Comply with federal, state and local policies and procedures.
- Adhere to district/school policies and procedures.
- Provide supervision and documentation of PTA services as stated in DPI guidelines.
- Demonstrate ongoing professional growth.
- Maintain a professional manner and appearance at all times.
- Assist in recommendation of equipment and training of students/staff in the use of adaptive equipment.
- Consult with and train staff in areas such as handling, positioning and gross-motor functioning.
- Provide staff/parent in-service when appropriate.
- Perform other appropriate duties as assigned.
Working with students with disabilities can be an extremely physical position. Students may be in or using adaptive equipment, or have tendencies to run, push, climb, bite, hit or exhibit other forms of aggressive behavior. Extreme patience and physical abilities may be required to handle these students in what can sometimes be very stressful situations.
- An employee must regularly be required to stand, run, walk, sit, talk, and hear, use hands to manipulate materials, handle and feel. Also regularly must bend, stoop, twist, and reach with hands and arms. On occasion, an employee must be able to climb or balance.
- An employee may be asked on a regular basis to lift no more than 75 pounds. Must be able to transfer or move students or equipment.
- Vision requirements are close, distance, peripheral and depth perception.
- Work is performed in a classroom setting, lunchroom, playground, and community.
