This is a sub position that will work to cover department staffing on an as needed basis.
Job Goal/General Overview:
The RN/LPN/MA/CNA assists in coordinating the health services to students and employees within the District. Ensures that all health services comply with Federal and State laws and standards. The RN/LPN/MA/CNA provides assistance and care of sick and injured students, maintains health and medical documentation for the school, and performs medical procedures as necessary, under the direction of the District Nurse (RN).
Performance Responsibilities:
Clinic: The primary emphasis is assisting and maintaining an optimal level of "health" through established District/medical policies and practices for all students through:
1. Will perform nursing tasks consistent with educational preparation commensurate with certification/licensure.
2. Provide basic emergency care of illness or injury and in procedures of emergency care.
3. Communicating with parents/guardians and children regarding health problems.
4. Referring emergency situations to parents, physicians, and hospitals. Also referring non-emergency situations to parents and appropriate personnel.
5. Maintains connections with community agencies, schools and families to provide on-going health support in conjunction with or as directed by the District Nurse.
6. Assisting in the prevention and control of communicable diseases.
7. While maintaining student confidentiality, act as a resource for teaching staff in appropriate medical processes and/or procedures.
8. May initiate teaching of nursing tasks to staff members delegated by the District Nurse.
9. Acting as a resource person to staff members for materials pertaining to various health units.
10. Assisting in obtaining and maintaining emergency cards, immunization records and other appropriate medical documents for students and personnel.
11. Monitoring students' health status during periods of short-term rest or recovery; follow up on medically excused absences as necessary.
12. Assist in preparing preliminary budget for supplies, materials and equipment. Assists with inventorying of supplies and equipment. Making recommendations toward the purchases of larger medical/office equipment.
13. Perform other duties as assigned by the District Nurse and/or administration.

1. Current Wisconsin State Licensure as a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, MA, or CNA
2. Current CPR certification (maintenance of certification while employed) / AED
