Marshall Public Schools is seeking individuals to be on an on-call list to fill staff vacancies on an as-needed basis in our food service department. Schedules vary between 7:00am - 2:00pm. The employee will assist the head cook in preparing, cooking and serving food along with cleaning up the work area. 
 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Ensure food is stored away properly when not in use
  2. Learn about the cooking methods and techniques employed in the kitchen
  3. Comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines
  4. Perform routine kitchen tasks as assigned
  5. Set up service lines for lunch and nutrition break (if applicable)
  6. Point of Sale (POS)
 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

  1. Knowledge of units of measurements
  2. Good understanding of ingredients, recipes, kitchen safety and hygiene
  3. Self-motivated with a high energy level
  4. Good communication skills
  5. Ability to work independently
  6. Team player
  7. Ability to follow directions
  8. Comfortable working with knives

1. High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.
2. Prior training or experience in sanitation, food handling procedures, quantity cooking, or customer service is preferred but not required.
