Marinette Intermediate School is seeking an energetic, self motivated individuals to join our team as part-time Youth Advocate Educational Associates. The position will be responsible for ensuring a positive, safe, and culturally-responsive school environment, improving student attendance and opportunities to learn for students who are not engaged in their learning. The Youth Advocate will use outreach strategies such as, but not limited to, non-violent crisis interventions, restorative justice practices, mediation skills, and PBIS to promote student engagement, positive behaviors, and connections within the school community.


Responsibilities:
- Develops positive relationships with students, families, and staff by being visible and accessible throughout the building throughout the day and at school events, when possible
- Actively supports and engages with Student Services staff
- Welcomes, orientates, monitors students; supports new students/families; assists with transitions to next school or level of schooling when appropriate
- Builds relationships through presence, visibility, and student engagement during non-classroom time at school or community events
- Provides a soft landing for students who have been struggling each morning
- Playground/recess/hallway/lunchroom supervision before/after, and during the school day
- Assists and monitors students identified by the Student Services Team who are disengaged from school
- Collaborates proactively with the building Student Services Team and Administration, and assists with data collection and the data-based decision-making process
- Provides ongoing support for students experiencing Office Referrals and suspensions
- Collaborates with staff to support students/families identified in need of support using a case management approach
- Tracks and responds to attendance concerns; creates a system of student/family contact and support in collaboration with administration
- Responds to calls for assistance in classrooms and throughout the school

7. Meet one of the following Hiring Requirements:
- Possess an Associates Degree
- Completion of a minimum of 2 years post-secondary education, or
- Taken and received a passing score on one of the DPI-approved assessments (WorkKeys ACT, Parapro-Assessment ETS or ParaEducator Master Teacher)
