Part Time
We are looking for part time substitute teachers for the 2025-2026 School Year! Must hold a short-term substitute teaching license.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES AS A SUBSTITUTE TEACHER
The success of the Substitute teacher in carrying on the continuing educational process in the Manitowoc Public School District depends primarily upon the principal, the regular teacher, and above all, upon the individual Substitute teacher. When all cooperate to achieve and develop continuity, an effective school program for all students will be maintained.
The school expects the Substitute teacher to:
1. Follow Absence Management (Frontline) procedures and instructions. Please check lesson plan and information as to how the substitute teacher should dress specifically for the day; i.e.: field trip, colors day, other special dress days, outdoor recess duty and so on.
2. Report to the office upon arrival at the building and be present at the school in accord with the teacher hours.
3. Find the yellow Substitute teacher folder on the desk.
4. Follow plans for classroom activities and procedures left by the regular teacher as closely as possible.
5. Assume the duties of the regular teacher, which may include corridor or study hall supervision, collection of monies, lunch period supervision, playground supervision, and securing supplies.
6. Seek guidance from the office in any unusual situation and notify them immediately in the event of an accident, severe problem, or serious disturbance.
7. Be fair, impartial, considerate and firm with all students.
8. Approach students with a smile, even if it is to intervene because the student is not acting appropriately.
9. Fill out the Substitute teacher report and leave it for the teacher.
10. Be responsible for every student in the room during a fire drill, tornado drill, or any other emergency.
11. Leave students’ written work corrected and have the classroom in order at the end of the day.
12. Treat any information about the school and its students as confidential.
13. Know where the Crisis Plan Guide is located in the classroom.
14. There may be times when you will be asked to help in another area during the classroom teacher’s regularly scheduled period off.
