Job Description:
An AODA (Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse) School Coordinator oversees and implements comprehensive programs for alcohol and drug abuse prevention and intervention within a school setting. This role involves coordinating with various stakeholders, developing and delivering educational programs, providing support to students and staff, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
- Provide individual and small group support for students experiencing challenges with substance use.
- Develop and deliver evidence-based prevention education for students and staff.
- Partner with school counselors, social workers, and administrators to coordinate student support plans.
- Facilitate connections between students/families and community treatment or counseling resources when needed.
- Support the implementation of school-wide AODA prevention initiatives, events, and awareness campaigns.
- Maintain accurate and confidential documentation of student interventions and services provided.
- Stay informed on current trends, research, and best practices in AODA prevention and education.
Education:
A bachelor's or master's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related field
Experience:
Experience in AODA prevention and intervention, school counseling, or a related field preferred.
Skills:
Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge:
Knowledge of AODA issues, prevention strategies, intervention techniques, and relevant laws and regulations.
