JOB SUMMARY:
To perform semi-skilled to skilled facility and grounds maintenance repair(s) which include; construction related to minor facility renovations (painting/drywall/masonry/etc.), HVAC repairs/program scheduling & amp; troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance tasks. To support the maintenance operations services throughout the District. To help and support the Germantown School District in providing students and staff with safe and efficient facilities.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 1. Three to Five years of experience in grounds & athletic field maintenance, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general maintenance required, including the operation of electric hand tools; or any equivalent combination of acceptable education and experience providing the knowledge, skills, and abilities cited above
2. Thorough knowledge of proper procedures, methods, techniques, and equipment for the maintenance and repair of grounds maintenance, athletic field management, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems.
3. Ability to read and interpret manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
4. Ability to lift and move heavy equipment.
5. Ability to work effectively as a team member.
6. Thorough knowledge of the safe and effective use of hand and power tools and other equipment of the mechanical trades.
7. Ability to learn School District and Departmental policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
8. Ability to work independently, exercise independent judgment, and make independent decisions.
9. Ability to work as a team member with other employees and the general public in an effective and courteous manner.
10. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Language Skills - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Mathematical Skills - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee frequently must squat, stoop or kneel, reach above the head and reach forward. The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp tools and climbs onto ladders. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk more than the average person while performing the duties of this job.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Occasionally the employee will lift and/or move up to 90 pounds. The employee will frequently push/pull items and equipment.
Required:
1. Graduation from high school
2. Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
3. Must have strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
4. Three to five years of buildings & grounds maintenance experience.
Preferred:
1. Associate degree in a related field preferred, and such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education find appropriate and acceptable.
2. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
3. Experience in a school district setting is highly desirable
4. Working knowledge of all physical plant operations
5. Certified Pool Operator, Commercial Pesticide Applicator, Certified Arborist, Athletic Field Management license/certification.
