Position Overview:
The Mineral Point School District is seeking a passionate and dedicated educator to serve as a 6th–12th Grade Physical Education Teacher (.75 FTE) and Activities Director (.25 FTE). This hybrid position is ideal for a student-focused professional who values physical wellness, student engagement, and leadership development through athletics and co-curricular activities.

In addition to teaching Physical Education, MPSD is looking for an Activities Director who is organized, action-oriented, self-reflective, innovative, and a visionary leader with a core belief in creating a successful and collaborative environment with all staff, students, and families. The ideal candidate will inspire excellence in both the classroom and in extracurricular programming.


Key Responsibilities:

Physical Education Teacher (.75 FTE)

  • Develop and deliver a comprehensive, standards-based physical education curriculum for grades 6–12.

  • Promote lifelong health, fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship through engaging instruction.

  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of all students.

  • Use assessments to monitor student progress and inform instruction.

  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to support overall student development and school initiatives.

Activities Director (.25 FTE)

  • Oversee and evaluate all coaches and club advisors.

  • Provide leadership for 15 WIAA-sponsored sports (including 7 co-ops with Dodgeville) and all school-sponsored clubs and student groups.

  • Support and promote a positive, inclusive culture for all student activities.

  • Collaborate with staff, students, and families to enhance student engagement and school pride.

  • Manage scheduling, facilities, event planning, budgeting, and transportation for co-curricular programs.

  • Serve as a liaison between the school and local/state organizations (e.g., WIAA).

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant policies and regulations.

  • Other coaching and co-curricular opportunities may be available.


Qualifications:

  • Valid Wisconsin DPI licensure (or eligibility) in Physical Education.

  • Experience working with middle and/or high school students in educational or co-curricular settings.

  • Demonstrated leadership, organization, and communication skills.

  • Commitment to fostering student growth, wellness, and engagement both in and out of the classroom.

  • Experience with athletic/co-curricular program oversight or coaching preferred.
