Position Details
Key Responsibilities:
Student Support:
-
Assist students with IEPs in general education and special education classrooms.
-
Provide one-on-one or small group instruction based on students’ IEP goals and objectives.
-
Support students in developing academic, social, and life skills.
-
Monitor and document student progress, behavior, and performance.
-
Implement behavior management strategies as directed by the case manager or classroom teacher.
Classroom Assistance:
-
Aid classroom teachers in preparing instructional materials and classroom activities.
-
Help maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment.
-
Support classroom management and organization.
-
Assist with the modification and adaptation of curriculum materials to meet the needs of students with disabilities.
Collaboration and Communication:
-
Work closely with special education case managers, classroom teachers, and other support staff to implement IEPs.
-
Communicate regularly with teachers and case managers regarding student performance and any concerns.
-
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
Transportation:
-
Drive students to and from school or related activities as needed.
-
Ensure the safety and well-being of students during transport.
-
Maintain a clean and functional vehicle and report any maintenance issues.
General Duties:
-
Attend professional development sessions and training as required.
-
Adhere to school policies, procedures, and regulations.
-
Perform other duties as assigned by the case manager, classroom teacher, or school administration.
Skills and Abilities:

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in working with students with special needs.

Ability to follow instructions and implement educational plans.

Basic understanding of IEPs and special education practices.
