The School District of Rhinelander is seeking candidates to fill Special Education Teaching Assistant position at Rhinelander High School.  The School District of Rhinelander is a progressive district focused on student achievement for all learners. Key Responsibilities:

Student Support:

    • Assist students with IEPs in general education and special education classrooms.

    • Provide one-on-one or small group instruction based on students’ IEP goals and objectives.

    • Support students in developing academic, social, and life skills.

    • Monitor and document student progress, behavior, and performance.

    • Implement behavior management strategies as directed by the case manager or classroom teacher.

Classroom Assistance:

    • Aid classroom teachers in preparing instructional materials and classroom activities.

    • Help maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment.

    • Support classroom management and organization.

    • Assist with the modification and adaptation of curriculum materials to meet the needs of students with disabilities.

Collaboration and Communication:

    • Work closely with special education case managers, classroom teachers, and other support staff to implement IEPs.

    • Communicate regularly with teachers and case managers regarding student performance and any concerns.

    • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.

Transportation:

    • Drive students to and from school or related activities as needed.

    • Ensure the safety and well-being of students during transport.

    • Maintain a clean and functional vehicle and report any maintenance issues.

General Duties:

    • Attend professional development sessions and training as required.

    • Adhere to school policies, procedures, and regulations.

    • Perform other duties as assigned by the case manager, classroom teacher, or school administration.

Skills and Abilities:

    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

    • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

    • Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in working with students with special needs.

    • Ability to follow instructions and implement educational plans.

    • Basic understanding of IEPs and special education practices.

1. Associate Degree Preferred
2.Teacher Paraprofessional training courses, or current enrollment in the teacher paraprofessional education courses appropriate to the level of the
job opening or their equivalent.
3.Any college credits and experience will be evaluated also.
4.Experience working with children or young adults preferred.
5.Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate.
6. Valid Driver's license and acceptable driving record. 
7. First Aid and CPR certification preferred (or willingness to obtain). 
 
Physical Requirements:
 - Ability to properly transfer (i.e. lift/move) students if necessary.
 - Capacity to stand, walk and engage in physical activities for extended periods.
 - Willingness to drive in variouis weather conditions as needed.
