JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled School Psychologist to join our program serving K-12 students who have experienced trauma and present with significant mental health, emotional, and behavioral needs. The School Psychologist will provide a range of psychological services, including assessments, interventions, and consultation, to help students achieve success academically, socially, and emotionally. This role requires expertise in trauma-informed care, mental health interventions, behavior management, and collaboration with school staff, families, and community providers.

  • Trauma-Informed Interventions: Provide evidence-based interventions and counseling to support students dealing with trauma, emotional and behavioral difficulties, and mental health challenges. Utilize trauma-informed approaches to enhance student resilience and well-being.
  • Crisis Intervention: Respond to students in crisis, offering immediate support and psychological first aid. Collaborate with school staff to develop crisis intervention plans and follow up with ongoing support as needed.
  • Behavioral Support & Consultation: Collaboratively develop and implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) for students with challenging behaviors. Provide consultation to teachers and staff on managing classroom behavior and creating trauma-sensitive environments.
  • Social/Emotional Learning (SEL): Promote and support SEL programs that foster emotional intelligence, self-regulation, social skills, and resilience in students. Provide both individual and group sessions focused on helping students develop healthy coping mechanisms and interpersonal skills.
  • Collaboration & Consultation: Work closely with teachers, counselors, social workers, and administrators to address students' academic, behavioral, and emotional needs. Offer guidance on how to effectively support students with trauma and mental health concerns within the classroom.
  • Academic Support and Career Planning: Assist students in overcoming academic challenges by identifying learning barriers and supporting academic accommodations. Collaborate with school staff to guide students in academic goal-setting and career planning, ensuring a smooth transition through different school stages and post-secondary planning.
  • Family and Community Liaison: Act as a liaison between the school, families, and community mental health providers, ensuring students have access to comprehensive psychological services and resources that support their overall development.
  • Professional Development & Training: Lead training sessions for school staff on topics such as trauma-informed care, mental health awareness, behavior management, and strategies for fostering a supportive learning environment.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Use data from assessments, progress monitoring, and interventions to inform decisions about individual students and school-wide programs. Regularly review student progress and adjust interventions based on outcomes.
  • Advocacy & Ethical Practice: Advocate for the mental health and academic needs of students while adhering to ethical guidelines and maintaining confidentiality. Ensure students' rights and well-being are prioritized in all aspects of service delivery.
  • Assessment & Evaluation: May conduct comprehensive psychological assessments to evaluate students’ cognitive, academic, emotional, and behavioral functioning. Generally, evaluation is completed by the student’s resident district, but the School Psychologist may be asked to conduct a reevaluation.
