Job Summary: The Wisconsin Rapids Public School District is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to serve as the Head Wrestling Coach in our education-based athletic program. The successful candidate will lead our high school wrestling program, emphasizing student-athlete development, academic achievement, and character building in alignment with the district’s educational mission and passion for success.
Key Responsibilities:

Program Leadership:
-
Develop and oversee all aspects of the high school wrestling program, including varsity, junior varsity.

Foster a positive team culture that promotes sportsmanship, discipline, and teamwork.

Set clear goals and expectations for athletes and coaching staff.

Student-Athlete Development:
-
Provide guidance to student-athletes on skill development, physical fitness, and personal growth.

Emphasize academic success and monitor athletes’ academic progress to ensure eligibility.

Instill core values such as respect, integrity, and perseverance.

Coaching and Strategy:
-
Plan and execute effective practice sessions to develop individual and team skills.
-
Design and implement game strategies that align with the team’s strengths and opponents’ tendencies.

Manage meet-day responsibilities and communication with staff and athletes.

Recruitment and Retention:
-
Encourage student participation in wrestling across all grade levels.
-
Collaborate with middle school and the community’s programs to create a pipeline of future student-athletes.

Retain athletes by creating an inclusive, supportive, and challenging environment.

Community Engagement:
-
Act as a representative of the wrestling program within the community.
-
Engage with parents, alumni, and community stakeholders to build support for the program.

Coordinate fundraising efforts and events to support program needs.

Administrative Duties:
-
Ensure compliance with WIAA and district policies and procedures.
-
Maintain accurate records, including schedules, rosters, and equipment inventories.

Collaborate with school administration, athletic director, and other coaches to align program goals.
- BA/BS in Education is preferred. Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln prefers that the head wrestling coaches be in-building employees. Teaching and support staff positions are available.

Previous coaching experience.

Strong knowledge of wrestling strategies, rules, and techniques.

Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Commitment to the academic and personal development of student-athletes.

Assists in selecting and evaluating assistant coaches.

Ability to work collaboratively with school staff, parents, and the community.
-
CPR/First Aid/AED certification (or willingness to obtain).

Adherence to all WIAA regulations and guidelines.
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Teaching certification and ability to contribute to the academic mission of the school.
-
Experience managing an education-based athletic program.
-
Familiarity with Wisconsin Rapids School District values and culture.
