Position Details
The Berlin Area School District is searching for a motivated and reliable Substitute Custodial Staff member. The Substitute Custodial Staff performs scheduled and non-scheduled custodial duties in and around District facilities. This position is an on-call basis to fill in for full-time school custodians who may be off work for vacation, sick, personal leave, and/or weekend events.
More specifically, the ideal candidate will:
- Performs routine custodial work to include, but not limited to vacuuming and spot cleaning carpets; removing trash in accordance with established procedures; scouring and sanitizing while stocking paper and supplies in restrooms, locker rooms, and other facilities.
- Performs outdoor work to include, but not limited to, snow removal, salt areas as needed, leaf pickup, sporting facilities clean up and gutter cleaning.
- Sets up and takes down furniture and equipment for a wide variety of District or community events.
- Performs minor to moderate graffiti removal.
- Other duties as assigned. Assigned duties are subject to change at any time without notice.
Clay Lamberton Elementary (4K-5), Berlin Middle School (6-8), and Berlin High School (9-12) sit on the same campus and serve as a hub of activity for the greater Berlin community. The Berlin Area School District is composed of 14 municipalities, with the City of Berlin at the center. Berlin is a rural community with a population of 5,500 located approximately 20 minutes west of Oshkosh and 10 minutes north of Green Lake. The Fox River runs through the center of the historic Victorian downtown. Agriculture, health services, light industry and retail shops comprise Berlin’s economy.
Pay and contract details: Starting at $15.30 per hour depending on experience, part-time, on-call position for positions that occur on an infrequent/daily basis throughout the school year. Hours vary, typically eight (8) hours but may choose to work half shifts (4 hours) with a flexible start time for first- and second-shift vacancies.
