The Elkhorn Area School District is currently accepting applications for a Custodian/Facility Maintenance position at the Elkhorn Area High School. This is a full-time, year-round position, working Tuesday through Friday, 2 pm to 10:30 pm, and Saturday. The Saturday start/end times are flexible depending on the activities taking place.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Under the overall direction of the Supervisor (Buildings, Grounds, & Maintenance), performs necessary duties required to maintain the assigned building including general cleaning, floor maintenance, facilitating repairs, and any other tasks required to keep the building, classrooms, and all core areas within the school in good condition and repair
- Takes daily direction from the head custodian relating to routine tasks or special projects
- Maintains supplies & equipment as necessary
- Performs all general cleaning and floor maintenance required to maintain a neat and clean building (sweep, mop, scrub, vacuum, and polish floors; wash walls, windows, and woodwork; dust, arrange, and move furniture/equipment; clean restrooms and replenish supplies)
- Communicates with the head custodian and other staff as necessary regarding issues requiring attention
- Work closely with the Community Engagement Coordinator and Athletic Director during events throughout the year to assist with setup and cleaning needs.
- All other duties as assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experienced in the use and minor repair of industrial cleaning equipment (scrubbers, vacuums, industrial floor finishing equipment, etc.)
- Knowledgeable in methods, practices, and products required to clean and maintain buildings
- Ability to perform semi-skilled and unskilled tasks in building maintenance including general cleaning and floor maintenance
- Excellent interpersonal skills – must be a team player!
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Must have the physical ability to do heavy lifting up to 50 lbs. and tolerate extended walking and standing
- Mechanically inclined in carpentry, plumbing, painting, and mechanical equipment.
Candidates who receive a conditional offer of employment with the Elkhorn Area School District will be subject to a background check, physical and tuberculosis test, and illicit drug screening test.
