Waterford Union High School is seeking a qualified candidate to join its support staff building maintenance team as a full-time custodian. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with benefits. Duties include cleaning and other custodial duties, assist in the set-up and tear-down of facilities for athletic/fine arts/school and community programming events, maintenance of the high school facility, grounds keeping, etc. Responsible for on-going maintenance and minor repair of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and custodial equipment. Second shift hours (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM) during the school year, as well as some weekends required. First shift hours available if desired during summer months, winter and spring breaks.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist in establishing and maintaining an effective and efficient custodial service and preventative maintenance system as outlined in the “Minor maintenance Schedule”.
- Perform custodial and housekeeping services such as cleaning, vacuuming, sweeping, trash removal, snow removal, moving industrial grade furniture, repairs, and building & grounds maintenance.
- Coordinate / perform event setups and teardowns in a school environment.
- Properly complete daily and scheduled assignments.
- Assist in properly maintaining equipment and supply inventory.
- Provide building and grounds security as assigned.
- Actively contribute to reducing energy consumption per energy conservation program.
- Maintain a high degree of self-motivation and self-direction; express a positive and cooperative attitude and work ethic.
- Must be able to serve as a positive role model.
- Take direction and complete tasks in a safe and satisfactory manner.
- Attendance is an essential function of this position.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required at the time of hire or for the continuation of employment.
- Good organization and public relation skills.
- Maintain a valid Wisconsin drivers license.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Ability to meet all requirements and responsibilities, including a high school diploma or G.E.D.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to statistically manipulate numbers; make advanced mathematical calculations; check for accuracy.
REASONING ABILITY:
- Ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and effectively solve problems.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions with several abstract and concrete variables.
