Merrill Area Public Schools (MAPS) is seeking a highly qualified teacher to serve as instructional coach at our Washington Elementary building for the 2024-25 school year. Candidates for this position should have high quality teaching experiences at the elementary school level, ideally with 3rd and 4th grades. It is critical that this person can articulate what excellent instruction looks like as well as integrate technology into that framework. It is also imperative that this person knows how to work with adult learners, build trust, and be a role model. MAPS has a variety of professional development opportunities for teacher-leaders.
These individuals will be joining a team of other instructional coaches and teacher leaders and will report to the Director of Curriculum and Instruction. The preferred candidate will need the experience and demeanor to support the instruction of teachers at all levels from novice through experienced.
MAPS utilizes the CESA 6 / Stronge Model for Educator Effectiveness to evaluate staff. Kate Goodrich Elementary also supports a 1:1 Chromebook initiative and all students have a Chromebook. The preferred candidate will also have experience with various Google platforms (docs, sheets, drive, etc.).
Merrill is located 15 minutes north of Wausau in Central Wisconsin. The communities that Merrill serves are located on some of the most scenic parts of the Wisconsin River. One can easily access numerous outdoor activities and the convenience of North Central Wisconsin’s major retail and cultural center. In addition, there are a number of extra curricular and coaching positions available to candidates to help develop the whole student.
