We are accepting applications for the position of Associate Principal at Lincoln High School. We are seeking a dynamic, student-centered educational leader to work collaboratively with our entire community creating a culture of engagement, success, growth and learning for all. In the Manitowoc Public School District, we believe that all students can learn at high levels. Our focus on high quality instruction starts with the basics but is far more than a checklist of skills. We want students to develop a depth of understanding that will serve them now and equip them for the future.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Creates a climate of trust, respect & appreciation among staff and students, and models behavior that aligns with the district’s mission, vision & core beliefs.
2. Monitors and supervises student conduct and behavior, imposes consequences for student misconduct and rules violations when applicable, and communicates with students, parents, and staff regarding student behavior.
3. Helps monitor the academic, social-emotional, and attendance progress of students.
4. Is responsible for administering discipline and monitoring attendance for students assigned by the building principal.
5. Contacts parents’ relative to student absenteeism, behavior, and is the school contact with social service agencies and the police.
6. Establishes effective working relationships with school guidance staff, social workers, school resource officer and other staff to effectively develop plans for addressing the needs of students in need of interventions beyond those provided by the classroom teacher.
7. Learn classroom / behavior management strategies to help classroom teachers work with groups of students.
8. Develops a good understanding of the principles of learning, authentic instruction and district’s goals for providing high quality intellectual work for all students and assists staff in their understanding of these principles, instructional methodology and goals.
9. Is responsible for building cleanliness, graffiti removal, and regular walk-arounds with the head custodian to assure safe and orderly facilities.
10. Monitors the work of mentors with new teachers and provides support for the mentor in the form of release days for mentor observations and respects the confidentiality of the mentor/mentee relationship.
11. Participates in school planning and decision making considering the best educational interests of students, teachers, parents, and the community.
12. Supervises and evaluates certified staff as directed by the principal.
13. Supervises and evaluates non-certified staff as directed by the principal.
14. Assists with recruiting, screening, and interviewing certified teaching staff and non-certified support staff as requested by the Director of Human Resources.
15. Assists the principal in the administration of instructional and curricular programs for the school.
16. Assists the principal in developing the building budget and setting goals for the school.
17. Coordinates the at risk/special education program at the school level.
18. Assists the principal in developing, maintaining, and communicating building procedures to staff and students.
19. Assists with the development of the building master schedule as requested by the principal.
20. Attends all athletic contests which are not supervised by the sports supervisor, principal, SRO, or other appropriate supervisory staff.
21. Regularly attends extracurricular events.
22. Serves as an advisor to the student council and supervises student council activities and attending bimonthly general meetings and various committee meetings.
23. Attends all school dances during the school year.
24. Creates and distributes weekly communications to staff, students, and families.
25. Assists the principal in developing and/or maintaining an effective home-school-community communications appropriate for the high school.
