The Baldwin-Woodville Area School District is now accepting applications for an exceptional and resourceful leader to serve as the Business Manager. The Baldwin-Woodville Area School District is located in rural Western Wisconsin, 30 minutes east of St. Paul, Minnesota.  The BWSD serves a growing population of more than 1,700 students. This position provides leadership, assistance, and support to business and operational staff; advises and assists the District Administrator in planning, organizing, controlling, and directing the financial services and daily operations of the district in such a way that directs financial and personnel resources toward providing the best possible educational programs and services for our students. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:  

  • Wis. DPI License 08
  • Registered as a CPA by the State of Wisconsin preferred
  • Experience in School Business

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise the management of the financial affairs of the schools.
  • Supervise the work of the business office personnel, 
  • Use standard accounting procedures to keep an accurate continuous record of the cash and financial position of the district and manage the financial operations so that the district remains financially stable.
  • Supervise the collection, safekeeping, and distribution of all funds and recommend new accounting methods as desirable and necessary.
  • Review all vouchers authorizing expenditures.
  • Oversee all district purchasing, financial investments, banking activities, payroll and benefits programs.
  • Prepare and analyze all financial statements as needed.
  • Act as advisor to the superintendent on all questions relating to the business and financial affairs of the district.
  • Assist the School Board with decisions regarding salaries and benefits for all personnel.
  • Establish a plan/schedule for the preparation of the annual budget that will permit the setting of the succeeding year’s budget at the Annual Meeting
  • Assume responsibility for budget development, budget adoption and tax levy.
  • Assist key administrators in budget review.
  • Maintain a continuous internal auditing program for all funds.
  • Provide for the securing of an annual audit of the district’s financial records.
  • Maintain appropriate levels of insurance to protect the property and cover the liability of the district.
  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive fixed asset inventory.
  • Ensure that the required financial reports are prepared and submitted to the proper agents (example:  Budget Report and Annual Report as required by the DPI).
  • Ensure that official pupil counts are completed as required by the DPI. 
  • Represent the district at various regional, state and national associations relative to the role of being the Business Manager.
